My condolences. It is my hope that these words of the Holy Scriptures, prove to be supportive in this difficult and painful time…..

John 11:32-45

32 And so Mary, when she arrived where Jesus was and caught sight of him, fell at his feet, saying to him: “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.” 33 Jesus, therefore, when he saw her weeping and the Jews that came with her weeping, groaned in the spirit and became troubled; 34 and he said: “Where have YOU laid him?” They said to him: “Lord, come and see.” 35 Jesus gave way to tears. 36 Therefore the Jews began to say: “See, what affection he used to have for him!” 37 But some of them said: “Was not this [man] that opened the eyes of the blind man able to prevent this one from dying?”

38 Hence Jesus, after groaning again within himself, came to the memorial tomb. It was, in fact, a cave, and a stone was lying against it.39 Jesus said: “TAKE the stone away.” Martha, the sister of the deceased, said to him: “Lord, by now he must smell, for it is four days.”40 Jesus said to her: “Did I not tell you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?” 41 Therefore they took the stone away. Now Jesus raised his eyes heavenward and said: “Father, I thank you that you have heard me. 42 True, I knew that you always hear me; but on account of the crowd standing around I spoke, in order that they might believe that you sent me forth.” 43 And when he had said these things, he cried out with a loud voice: “Laz´a·rus, come on out!” 44The [man] that had been dead came out with his feet and hands bound with wrappings, and his countenance was bound about with a cloth. Jesus said to them: “Loose him and let him go.”

45 Therefore many of the Jews that had come to Mary and that beheld what he did put faith in him;

To the Graves family -
My prayers are with you all in this sad time in your lives. I did not know Jim very well, but I was Jamie's Spanish teacher at PND. Jamie, I am so sorry for the loss of your father. Your Dad was truly a man to be admired and I know he will be missed. My thoughts are with you.

I'm so sorry to hear about Jim - I wish I could be home to see you but know that I'm thinking of you.  I have so many great memories of your family growing up.  My thoughts and prayers are with you.

My heart goes out to Patti, Ryan, Jamie, Mrs. graves and Jim's sisters! I thank you for allowing me to share in Jim's last few weeks. We shared stories, memories and a few smiles. Jim is a true friend and he has taught me much about life and living. He has been an inspiration to so many, touching lives of people all over the United States. The steady stream of friends visiting Jim over the last weeks of his life is a true testimony to the man he was. May he be at peace and may the healing begin for his family and friends.

I have never met Jim or your family, but the Journal Star Tribute written about him and his life is a true inspiration. How wonderful to have left such a legacy to those who knew and loved him.

Jamie, my deepesty sympathy on the loss of your dad.  Although I never met your dad, after hearing so many wonderful things about him in Democratic circles, and having the pleasure of meeting you when you took my class at BU, I can tell your father most definitely lives on through you.  May the abundance of memories you have of your Dad comfort you through this very sad time.  You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

I am really sorry to hear about Jim's passing.  I have great memories of growing up with him and you guys.  My thoughts and prayers are with you. 

Dear Patti and Graves' family:

I can't imagine the tremendous feeling of loss you are all going through right now....to lose a husband and father and son at such a very young age.  Even though he has been ill for sometime, I'm sure there's still nothing that makes it any easier once reality has set in.  It sounds like Jim was involved in so many wonderful things in his life and helped many others through their trials as well.  Please know that I am saying my prayers for you and, with the Grace of God, you will find peace in your hearts.
